Honda BR-V released at GIIAS 2015, Indonesia

Honda introduced their latest car, Honda BR-V (Bolt Roundabout Vehicle) to the people of Indonesia and internationally through the event of Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show 2015 (GIIAS 2015).

Honda BR-V is the latest generation of the SUV Crossover with capacity up to 7 passengers. BR-V becomes the newest car in the Small Crossover segment that has never been introduced in Indonesia before. The word crossover stands for a car in between SUV and MPV.

Honda BR-V presents tough and solid exterior design with the high ground clearance as well as the large and stylish alloy wheels. With the stylish design, this model is also offering the comfortable and spacious cabin with 7 seats in three rows configuration. Aside of that, this model is also equipped with a variety of safety features those have been the characteristics of every product offered by Honda.

The word Bolt also stands to visualize the image of BRV cars as the tough cars. Honda BR-V will become the complement to the trident of RV (runabout vehicle) family that has launched Honda HRV and Honda CRV before.

Honda BR-V is planned to fill the blank spot in the national market of automotive between Honda Mobilio and Honda HRV. Honda BR-V cars will be powered by a 1.5L engine with 6 speeds in manual and automatic CVT.

The most significant difference between the sketch version and the production version of Honda BR-V can be seen in stronger impression of aerodynamic with the slighter corner. This is the similar impression that can also be found in Honda HR-V. Meanwhile, Honda BR-V in production trim gives the impression of being more spacious because of more opened room and tough impression of SUV.

This car is planned to be produced domestically in Indonesia at Honda manufacturers in Karawang, West Java. Despite of domestically produced and the order has been opened since the GIIAS 2015 event, customers will need to wait until at least 2016 to finally get the car.

Honda BR-V combined the MPV Honda Mobilio and the SUV Honda CR-V. If it is compared to Honda HR-V. the Honda HR-V combined the hatchback Honda Jazz and Honda CR-V.

The combination of Honda CR-V and Honda Mobilio makes Honda BR-V has the DNA of family car with 7 passengers that is known a characteristic of SUV car.

Honda BR-V is a low SUV (LSUV) that that glides on the road to complete the line of Honda MPV and SUV variants that have been launched earlier such as Mobilio, HR-V and CR-V – that has become the most popular variant amongst buyers and currently become trends not only in Indonesia but also all around the world.

Official Price of Honda BR-V

Mr. Jonfis Fandy as the marketing and after sales service director of PT Honda Prospect Motor (HPM) stated that by the event of GIIAS 2015, Honda has yet to release the official price for Honda BR-V. Honda announced the price range of Honda BR-V will be from 230 million to 265 million rupiahs and that makes Honda BR-V the most competitive car just by considering its price especially when being compared to its competitors.

Aside of its debut at GIIAS 2015 (not only national debut but also international debut), customers who get interested to Honda BR-V may preorder the car by paying booking fee of 10 million rupiahs (USD 760)

During the GIIAS 2015 event, we had the chance to see Honda BR-V in the color of Passion Red Pearl and Taffeta White.

Specifications and Features of Honda BR-V

During GIIAS 2015, there are not many details of specifications and features of Honda BR-V given by Honda to the people of Indonesia. Through the specification board we will be able to see the standard car specification of Honda BR-V.

Honda BR-V will be sold in 4 different variants and they are:

Honda BR-V 1.5L E 6 MT
Honda BR-V 1.5L E CVT
Honda BR-V 1.5 Prestige CVT

From the categories above, we are able to see that Honda offers just one engine configuration and that is i-VTEC 1500cc. Meanwhile from the transmission side, Honda offers Honda BR-V in 2 options: 6 speeds of manual transmission and CVT automatic transmission.

Both cars those are shown and displayed during GIIAS 2015 representing particular variant. Honda BR-V in Passion Red Pearl represents Honda BR-V 1.5L S 6 MT while the Honda BR-V in Taffeta White represents the Honda BR-V 1.5 Prestige CVT.

Honda BR-V Transmission

CVT transmission technology on the prototype of Honda BR-V is specifically developed by applying the technology of Honda Earth Dreams. The practical shape and the lighter weight of the transmission produce the more powerful acceleration while stay smooth as well as more efficient in using fuel. Meanwhile the 6-speed levels manual transmission creates the better ratio of speed level changes that affects the engine performance to become more responsive and also more efficient in fuel usage.

Safety Features of Honda BR-V

Safety features those will be available for Honda BR-V and have been made clear are the dual SRS airbag and the ABS+EBD. Meanwhile, for the Honda BR-V Prestige, there will be addition of Hill Start Assist as well as VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist).

ABS feature (Antilock Brake System) is the safety feature that will help in preventing the car wheels from locking when the brakes suddenly used or strongly used or when using brakes on the slippery road.

EBD feature (Electronic Brake Force Distribution) is a feature to control the usage of ABS by distributing the force evenly to the front and rear wheels depending on the driving condition. Additionally, EBD will control the braking force of the left and right wheels while braking in turning as well as helping to keep how the vehicle behave.

As for Honda BR-V prestige, there will be additional feature of Hill Start Assist and VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist).

The feature of Hill Start Assist is one feature that will be able to keep the braking force for a while on the slopes in order to give a chance for the driver to move his foot from the brake to the paddle to the acceleration paddle so that the car won’t slipped.

VSA is safety feature of Honda that will help in providing stability to the vehicle while it takes a turn where the turning corner is more or less than expected. This feature will help in keeping the traction of vehicle when accelerating on the slippery road.

Taking a glance at the dashboard, Honda BR-V has the similar dashboard shape with Honda All New Jazz 2015. This can be seen from the dashboard shape, the placement of A/C blower and the identical double din

As mentioned above, Interior of Honda BR-V shown is the one for Honda BR-V 1.5L S 6 MT. In the car, there is no one [push button to be found and there is not steering switch K on the steering wheel.

The premium feel on BR-V is shown not only from the safety features but also the trim of the interior such as the MID (Multi Information Display), a 6” display audio monitor, nanoe technology that can be accessed by driver with just touching a few buttons.

The floor of Honda BR-V is designed specifically in order to provide more convenient for the passengers legs. For the second row, the space for knee will be more spacious because the first row seats adopted the Thin Seat Back concept just like Honda CR-V. It is a concept where the front seats are made to follow the curve of the legs of the passengers seating in the second row. Thus the seats felt to be more spacious.

The third row seats are 50/50 split and can be folded easily and quickly in order to create more spacious baggage room.
